I think its better to do both the notes and the text critical problems at once in Psalms because of the kind of compositions they are--one gets a grasp of the entire piece.

As a result, we can bring out the Translations data in phases. Perhaps we should aim to bring out the data without the textual details (ie the variant details in brackets) till the next phase. For the sake of efficiency it is worth recording the variant data we come across, but don't worry about making it into a finished form. For the OT we would record things like * (one word less) * (two letters moved) and we may, if we happen to know something about the sources, note them, eg * (one word less, based on Greek+??) * (two letters moved, conjecture??) For the NT we would record things like * (UBS) * (Maj) and we might add in all the information, but we won't bother to sort it all or verify it against the published NTs. We want to include ALL the variants listed by UBS in the OT survey by Barteleme et al and ALL the variants listed for the NT UBS3 and UBS4 plus any variants which any of our standard list of translations rely on. It is likely that, by the time the first phase of STEP comes out, only some of the OT will be done, though we should aim to have the whole NT done.
